Last Tomato Harvest
We picked all the rest of the tomatoes just before our first frost. We sorted them into groups — green, breakers, yellow, and ripe — and set them down in the cellar. We kept only mature fruit, snipping the vine so each tomato retained a very short stem — large tomatoes stored with the stem down.
All will ripen, but some will be eaten green. Though we could have extended the season, we have much else to do and they ripen quite nicely indoors.
Today, I made salsa with some of the ripe ones.
